What would you think if you hear this about yourself?
I'm a gymnast so one day while I was stretching I heard behind me someone (I know his name is Emo but we don't know each other personally, anyway we've never spoken to each other) to tell somebody: "hey doesn't she remind you of Olive Oyl from Popeye the sailor cartoon?
I thought they were talking about me, so I turned to them. The first guy - Emo asked me about my name, I told them it's Meggie, but the other guy didn't hear it rights and said "Peggie?!" and started to laugh. I got annoyed (and also blushed with my stupid shyness) and said loudly "My name is Meggie." then the first guy said "sorry he didn't heard it right.because he's dull". Anyway I went on my training.
Then on other day I went to the gym I heard "Hey, Olive". It was the first guy - Emo, but in that moment I was with my back to him so I decided not to turn round to him and not to say anything. It didn't sound like mockery, but normally and simple.
Also today while I was doing my routine on the beam, other guy asked Emo to make a clip of his high bar routine so Emo stood next to the beam I was practicing on. He asked me if he was standing in my way (he asked me simply, without laughing ot anything else) but I said no. Actually the true answer was yes but I didn't own up. I continued doing my exercise but as I burned with shame (because I wasn't calm to concentrate and fell few times off the beam) I just sat on the ground and took some rest.
I really don't understand. Do you think he had had any thoughts or intentions of me buy saying that about Olive Oyl?
What would you think if you were me and you were compared to Olive Oyl?

maybe trying to get the attention from you and
try acting cool in front of his mate
sweetie who cares what others think! it does not change who you are! what really matters is how you see yourself! in life there will allways be negative people from time to time. never be afraid to speak up for yourself, if he calls you olive oyl call him a name, talk about his big stomach, or his nappy hair, they will keep picking till they see you will pick back!

Guys tease girls when they like them. It’s just how some of them are. By Olive Oyl, they probable mean you are tall, thin and have dark hair in a bun. They were looking for a reason to talk to you, this was all they could some up with. They will call you that so you pay attention to them. Otherwise your just ignoring them. And they don’t want you to ignore them.
Just try and relax and not stress about them. Knowing that they like you should give you the confidence to just play it cool and know your have their attention. They are the ones who like you.
As for the mistake about your name, some guys just think they have to have a smart @ss answer for everything. Again, this is just how they are. They know they would look like dorks if they said "Oh that’s a beautiful name". So they think they have to come up with something funny.
Trust me, all us girls have gone through this kind of things with young guys at one point. It can be annoying. Just know that when they tease, it’s their way of saying they like you, but are too immature to express it like older guys yet.
I dont know. A girl once said I looked like Olive Oyl and at the time I wore ugly clothes, always tied my hair up and to me that was like the biggest insult ever. Since then I let my hair down, change it around, where more flattering clothes etc.
