What should I do my 12 yr old daughter loves cartoon characters?
My 12 yr old daughter is in love with this Negi character from this naroto show that's on late at night. I'm worried because in her journal she wrote that she wanted to have sex with him. What should I do?
She's very smart and can figure things out so I'm worried. She already knows about condoms and birth control pills.

I think this is perfectly normal behavour for a 12 year old, she is going through transition from child to woman. We all had crushes on someone when we were teenagers and it's our way of expressing all the new feelings we get as we go through puberty.
I think you should be proud you have a lovely daughter who is progressing normally and unlike some of the scary questions on here not out doing the real thing and getting pregnant.
Also maybe you should have one of "those" chats with her without letting on what you know - it may put both of your minds at rest.

I know how she feels. I was in love with spiderman for the longest time. She will grow out of it, but probably still love cartoons.
Make sure you talk to her about sex and protecting herself, since she is becoming more interested in it.

Ok, number 1, it's completly normal. She is just starting to have sexual feelings, and be happy it's about a cartoon, and not a real boy.
Two, the journal reading, got to stop. Remember when you were that age, would you want your mother reading your journal, all your personal thought and feelings.
I know once I caught my dad reading my journal, and I flipped, not just a couple minuite flip, I mean I screamed for hours, and I still haven't forgiven him for it.
Just remember that, do you want your daughter to never forgive you because you read her journal?

Besides, this is normal. I'm 13, and occasionally i get the hots for a character on a show or in a movie. Once, I watched the movie the Silence of the Lambs, and I was obsessed with Anthony Hopkins' character for like a month (I'm not kidding). Just make sure these feeling don't develop too early in to a need to have sex with a real live person who might consent.

Ok, going into your daughter's journal and reading it without asking her is like your own daughter going into your room and searching for stuff all over the place, it feels like all your privacy is gone. Secondly, a girl of her age wanting to have sex with a guy that she adores is completely normal. The hormones are just going wild, and last of all which 12 year old, isn't thinking of all these things that the parents always consider "wrong" for this age?? I think you once went through this too and it's the 21st century, wake up! Sex is on television, internet and the world all around them! It's completely normal.
I agree, the whole purpose of a diary (or in this case, journal) is so nobody knows your secret thoughts! If you're truly concerned, then talk to your daughter about it, not getting advice from YA. Although it's good that you care about your daughters safety, this is a question about your familes morals and values, which we here on YA don't know.
