what do you think the greatest, most inspiring speech was, in a movie?
So many choices, all the way from Bluto's pep talk in Animal House, to Jack Nicholson's speech in "A Few Good Men."
Personally, my favorite is the one delivered by Anthony Hopkin's character in Amistad. The closing argument he gave in the trial. Very moving.
The defense’s closing in "A Time to Kill"
Henry Fonda’s speech as Tom Joad in The Grapes of Wrath. "Whenever there’s a fight so hungry people can eat, I’ll be there…". Inspirational.
honorable mention: Spencer Tracy’s final speech in Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.
Bill Pullman in Independence day when he’s getting the men juiced for battle.
I really liked the poem one of the students recites in ‘Coach Carter.’ It was really inspirational. Watch the video on my blog, to convince yourself, parthpondersDOTblogspotDOTcom
Al Pacino in City Hall when he speaks at the slain child’s funeral about how New York City was a palace before and can be one again.
Also, the speech in Henry V before they go into a battle where they are greatly outnumbered and Henry tells them that after today they will forever be his most favored.
Robin Williams’ lesson in Dead Poets Society.
It was really inspiring .Actually The entire movie had a very serious effect on me -it made me think about my life and about how courage have I got to make my life special.Carpe Diem!!
I think any of the ones with teddy roosevelt as long as they are done accurately.
If you’re thinking about this…try http://toptentubes.com/toptenmoviespeeches. You can watch the top ten and my favourite which isn’t actually in it is the fiery Dennis Hopper speech to Christopher Walken in True Romance. Brilliant. And performed so well. Their no 1 is Robart Duval in Platoon…some really good ones.
The opening scene in Patton. "Make the other poor SOB die for his country." Great speech!
Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption (When he gets out)
Braveheart- Mel Gibson (Freedom)
Sean Penn- Dead man walking- right before he dies
Lord of the Rings- Return of the King- when they all bow for the four hobbits
At the end of the movie Waiting….. When Mitch finallly flips out on everybody!! I love that movie!!
In the movie A Time to Kill, when Jake Brigance delivers his closing speech. I cry every time I watch the movie. Matthew McConaughey at his best!
touched by an angel : psalm 151
I think Erin Brockovich when she is in the board room meeting getting the owners of the company causing cancer to understand what is going on. When she brings in the water - that’s so funny.
And to think it is a true story too.
Speech to the 3rd Army by George C. Scott in the movie Patton.
al pacino in any given sunday definately qualifies for inspiring, or maybe al again in scent of a woman, these two have to at least be in the top ten dont you think?
Boiler Room… when Ben Afflacks character is giving his initial speech during the "interviews"… I almost got up and tried to figure out a way to work for that company…
"Anybody that tells you money cant buy happiness doesnt fu***** have any… look at the smile on my face… ear to ear baby"
