Obama offering 4 trillion in cuts in 10 years & asking to raise our debt by 2.5 trillion this year kind of remind you of cartoon "Popeye", where the character Wimpy would frequently utter this phrase:

""I'LL GLADLY PAY YOU TUESDAY FOR A HAMBURGER TODAY""

He was a glutton, and would consume burgers at a ferocious rate but could rarely pay for his habit.

To: My bad

The Obama administration, as well as few of his predecessors, much of the media and many economists, tend to equate failure to raise the debt limit with default.
That's not precisely true.
The Treasury Department estimates that the federal government will collect a bit more than 3 billion in taxes during August — roughly billion just in the first three days. But, during August, the federal government is expected to spend 7 billion. That is why we have a problem.

If the government is not able to borrow more money after Aug. 2, spending will have to be reduced to the amount of revenue that the government has. That would require roughly a 44 percent cut in federal spending.

This will almost certainly hurt. But it's not the same as default.

During August, interest payments on the federal debt will total roughly billion, meaning that there will be sufficient revenue to meet our obligations to creditors.
In addition, some 7 billion in government bonds is expected to come due during August, and will have to be rolled over. Though this rollover requires Treasury to enter the debt markets to purchase new securities, it is not technically "new" debt, and so does not run afoul of the debt limit.

The concern is that the U.S. would end up having to pay higher interest rates on this rolled over debt. That's not a trivial concern: A 1 percent increase in interest rates could cost taxpayers more than 0 billion per year.
Still, we should keep that in perspective — it's less than the amount that the government expects to borrow this month. And that is sort of worst case scenario. In 1979, the federal government actually did briefly default on its debt as the result of a debt ceiling impasse (as well a
as technical problems). That resulted in just a 60-basis-point increase in interest rates.
If we are really worried about a hike in interest rates, what about the hike we can expect if we fail to get federal borrowing under control? Both our deficit and total liabilities are already higher as a percentage of gross domestic product than Greece — or any of the other failing welfare states of Europe.

nobody, i feel old now, after i remembered popeye.
pink panther , thanks but popeye in color?? outrageous....LOL

Sometimes Dracula figured into my dreams. He is real and I must evade him. I never do go and kill him like Van Helsing. I never just wake up. He is as real as you or me in my dream. How can I stop this- lucid dreaming? Any tips? I dreamt Godzilla attacked Chicago and the whole thing seemed rea. If I dream of Popeye and Bluto and don't wake up, I will have to check myself into an asylum.

im popeye

If they develop a drug or serum or something to keep us alive for two hundred years?
Are we all going to end up looking like the Goons from Goon Island in the old Popeye cartoon?
With ears that hang down to our shoulders and noses that cover our chins?
Don't think so Maisie, the points of the ears will be on the bottom and not the top, but like the others' said maybe we will be able to fly around like dumbo and use our noses as rudders?

I'm going to Orlando next Sunday and so far on the ten day weather report Sunday and Monday have scattered thunderstorms. If it rains will they shut down the rides like Revenge of the Mummy, Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls, Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Men in Black Alien Attack, or any simulators and other rides?

for mind, are the little puppy.snowwhite, sleeping beauty, and aladdin, bambi, the red dog, sesame street, rudolph the red nosed reindeer, the cat in the hat, pinocchio, little mermaid, the threel ittle pigs, winnie pooh, carebear, popeye sailor man. bugs bunny rabbit, smurfs, and peter pan. the loin king. barney.

If you don't know what I'm talking about google 'cartoons in real life' and then go to the images. At first they ha homer and it was everywhere but now they have Charlie brown, POPEYE which look awesome!
Jessica rabbit and a whole bunch of other.

How do you make these and how much does it cost?

I know that's a really random question, but every episode it's like they're meeting for the first time...and popeye ALWAYS has a different occupation...it's a very confusing show. lol

what color is popeye

5) Jessica Rabbit
4) People from Popeye
3) Herbert from Family Guy
2) Yubaba from Spirited Away
1) Squidward

I saw videos on the Tube of different video games where ou can be anyone like Captain Caveman vs Homer Simpson or Fred Flintstone vs Popeye. Where are these games at?

my s/o's nickname is POPEYE, what's he supposed to eat?

Me personally,i like the old school ones such as;
''Amos and Andy Cartoon - The Lion Tamer''
''Bird man, He-man''
"captain planet'' (waaooo i wanted to be the girl from ''Wind'')
"Popeye",
"Tom and Jerry(but the old ones 80's-90's)''
''Bugs Bunny''
''The coyote and the road runner''
''Claudio the rooster from warner bro.''

And from now and days, i like'' Courage the cowardly dog'' and sometimes ''Spongebob'' but still the best one are from the old days. which one are yours?

I remember there was this episode where Popeye and Olive Oyl became invisible in a house and they started to terrorize and beat up Bluto, or whoever the antagonist was, then in the end, Popeye made himself visible and then gets hit from behind but then punches whoever's invisible but it turns out to be Olive Oyl and she's dazed from the hit. But then she starts chasing Popeye and hitting him. Which episode is this?

I'm in my late teens. I still watch classics such as Popeye , Bugs Bunny , Daffy Duck. And Scooby Doo , Jetsons , Flintstones , Tom and Jerry , Sylvester and Tweety , Pink Panther , Rock and Bullwinkle, Yogi Bear.

The newer cartoons just SUCK ! I hate anything that's computer animated. I don't know why. Old cartoons just have a certain feel to them. They're innocent. The newer cartoons always have some kind of toilet humor in them.

I prefer old cartoons newer ones. Shows such as South Park are crap. I do laugh every time I watch The Simpsons. I hate Family Guy and King of the hill.
If the show "Top Cat" was made today...

The cartoon would have Rap music in it. The show's theme song will be Rap. All of the cats will wear baggy pants and try to talk like they're black.

I just bought 4 Black Moor goldfish from Walmart (I had to when I saw them:( there were dead ones caught in the filter behind them and an unnecessary vacation feeder at the bottom at the tank!). They are all the size of a Cory fish (maybe an inch long? A bit more?). 2 of the 4 didn't look so hot when I got them home, (they kept floating to the top and flipping on their sides.. The only reason I knew they weren't dead was because their mouths would move) but now that I've got them in my tank for over 24 hours, they all look much much healthier and happier:)

So I have them in a 15 gallon tank with one Cory fish and one 2inch Pleco fish.

Here's my real problem: I have another Black Moore, but he's a good size.. about 5 inches? 6? He's pretty chubby too:) I have moved him into my 5 gallon "hospital tank" but I know I can't keep him there.. He'll dirty it up to kingdom come!! But I'm worried that if I move him back into the 15 gallon he'll eat up the new ones!

I mean, the big guy is usually pretty slow and doesn't have the best eyesight (he had a popeye problem some time ago, so his left eye protrudes quite a bit from his head still) and I really doubt he would hurt a fly! I feed him just fine, too.

So.. Do you think it's safe to move the big guy back into the 15 gallon? Or should I move the four tiny ones into the 5 gallon if I do?

Thank you :) they'll appreciate it, I'm sure <3
Update: I forgot to mention, yes I will be upgrading to an appropriate size tank very very soon, but I was jut asking if my big fish will eat the smaller black moors for the time being.

What will Popeye do?

The original voice of Popeye the Sailor was William Costello. (That much is, in
fact, true. And he started way back in 1933, too.) Here, though, is the question.
He was the brother of Lou Costello--who was best known for being the partner
of Bud Abbott.
Okay. Is that true or false? And if you think that it's false, then it's possible that
you can also say why.
All right, all old cartoon fans. Give this one a try. (And just for the sake of really
challenging yourself, try taking a guess without first going to google, imdb.com,
wikipedia.org, or any other research website.)

Seriously. Disney has gone from Mickey Mouse to Hannah Montana. Mickey Mouse has been reduced to a half hour spot on weekday mornings for little kids. Pretty soon he will be completely erased from Disney. They never even air anything even CLOSE to the old cartoons. At least Cartoon Network and CW11 are actually keeping Tom & Jerry alive, but Disney just goes with whatever will make them money.

This doesn't just go for Disney. Nickelodeon, too. I knew they'd be going downhill the second Rugrats turned into "Rugrats: All Grown Up". I used to love Rugrats.

Then of course the Animaniacs... They've been taken off TV for a while. Kids have never even HEARD of Popeye... And Bugs Bunny hasn't had an encounter with Elmer Fudd for what seems like forever.

What the hell is going on? Is this what Disney would have wanted to happen to his creation?
Joe B, you cannot outgrow good cartoons. A good cartoon is appealing to everybody, not just 4 year olds.

Yes, they have their own channels on cable, but they have gotten rid of them on their primary networks which are actually known. The primary networks do not even advertise the secondary ones, as if they are embarrassed by them.
I am not saying Disney was a good man. I am saying that he, along with other people, were visionaries. They were pioneers in the world of cartoons, and nobody has cleared the bar they had set. And as for Nickelodeon having the best cartoons in history... Only three modern Nickelodeon cartoons come to anybody's mind. Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, and Jimmy Neutron.

Every politicians has had some caricature of them in their political life. But what cartoon character would represent democrat, and a cartoon character that would represent republicans?

An example Popeye would be a republican and Spongebob a democrat.

Be creative and give a reason why you chose that character for the political party.

I remember playing cowboys and Indians. Also used to play Popeye (I had to play Bluto!) There were some boys who liked to play the Three Stooges.
