From a child: If Popeye eats his spinach and Bugs Bunny eats his carrots, then maybe we (kids) should eat our veggies, too.

From an elderly man: If there really is strength in numbers, then why is it that the older I get, the weaker I become?

From a hooker: I don't eat meat, beans, or tofu, and yet I still get more protein than most people in America!

From a CEO: Everything we do in our company is about the bottom line, so just sign the damn contract on the bottom line!

Got any jokes or other witticisms?

for mind, are the little puppy.snowwhite, sleeping beauty, and aladdin, bambi, the red dog, sesame street, rudolph the red nosed reindeer, the cat in the hat, pinocchio, little mermaid, the threel ittle pigs, winnie pooh, carebear, popeye sailor man. bugs bunny rabbit, smurfs, and peter pan. the loin king. barney.

Me personally,i like the old school ones such as;
''Amos and Andy Cartoon - The Lion Tamer''
''Bird man, He-man''
"captain planet'' (waaooo i wanted to be the girl from ''Wind'')
"Popeye",
"Tom and Jerry(but the old ones 80's-90's)''
''Bugs Bunny''
''The coyote and the road runner''
''Claudio the rooster from warner bro.''

And from now and days, i like'' Courage the cowardly dog'' and sometimes ''Spongebob'' but still the best one are from the old days. which one are yours?

I'm in my late teens. I still watch classics such as Popeye , Bugs Bunny , Daffy Duck. And Scooby Doo , Jetsons , Flintstones , Tom and Jerry , Sylvester and Tweety , Pink Panther , Rock and Bullwinkle, Yogi Bear.

The newer cartoons just SUCK ! I hate anything that's computer animated. I don't know why. Old cartoons just have a certain feel to them. They're innocent. The newer cartoons always have some kind of toilet humor in them.

I prefer old cartoons newer ones. Shows such as South Park are crap. I do laugh every time I watch The Simpsons. I hate Family Guy and King of the hill.
If the show "Top Cat" was made today...

The cartoon would have Rap music in it. The show's theme song will be Rap. All of the cats will wear baggy pants and try to talk like they're black.

Seriously. Disney has gone from Mickey Mouse to Hannah Montana. Mickey Mouse has been reduced to a half hour spot on weekday mornings for little kids. Pretty soon he will be completely erased from Disney. They never even air anything even CLOSE to the old cartoons. At least Cartoon Network and CW11 are actually keeping Tom & Jerry alive, but Disney just goes with whatever will make them money.

This doesn't just go for Disney. Nickelodeon, too. I knew they'd be going downhill the second Rugrats turned into "Rugrats: All Grown Up". I used to love Rugrats.

Then of course the Animaniacs... They've been taken off TV for a while. Kids have never even HEARD of Popeye... And Bugs Bunny hasn't had an encounter with Elmer Fudd for what seems like forever.

What the hell is going on? Is this what Disney would have wanted to happen to his creation?
Joe B, you cannot outgrow good cartoons. A good cartoon is appealing to everybody, not just 4 year olds.

Yes, they have their own channels on cable, but they have gotten rid of them on their primary networks which are actually known. The primary networks do not even advertise the secondary ones, as if they are embarrassed by them.
I am not saying Disney was a good man. I am saying that he, along with other people, were visionaries. They were pioneers in the world of cartoons, and nobody has cleared the bar they had set. And as for Nickelodeon having the best cartoons in history... Only three modern Nickelodeon cartoons come to anybody's mind. Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, and Jimmy Neutron.

Flinstone’s:
“We’ll have a gay old time…” is part of the theme song. Plus, Fred calls Barney “Twinkletoes”.

Bugs Bunny:
Bugs dresses up like a woman and tried to seduce his hunting buddy, Elmer. Bugs kisses Elmer and they end up dancing together.

Scooby Dooby Doo:
“Doobie Do?” The Scooby Snack is a metaphor for pot. And what about VELMA? Think about it…

Charlie Brown:
Remember Velma (The reason guys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses) ? Well Charlie Brown has Peppermint Pattie with her lesbian girlfriend, Marcie, who is always calling her, “Sir.”

Pattie plays football with the boys and walks around in those “sensible shoes”.

The Pink Panther:
Need I say more about him?

Remember Tinky Winkie, the gay Teletubbie who carried a pocketbook, decried by the notorious Jerry Falwell? Though not technically a cartoon, it’s close!

BATMAN and Robin:
Running around the city at night in tights… The older one calls the younger one his “Boy Wonder.” Their names are Bruce and Robin…

POPEYE the Sailor Man:
Hasn’t been in the navy in over 20 years, and is still wearing his uniform. His girlfriend is one of those flat-chested transvestites.

SMURFS:
Only one girl and she was the consummate “fag-hag”

ERNIE and BERT:
Speaks for itself.

WINNIE the POOH:
A yellow bear who wears nothing but a red halter-top.

Bugs Bunny, Tom&Jerry, WoodyWoodpecker, Garfield,RoadRunner,Popeye, etc.
Does any of these come on tv anymore and if so, what times and channels?

I have noticed an awful lot of parents complaining to television shows that shows are too violent and that their children shouldn't be seeing it. There are even studies on how seeing too much violence can contribute to delinquency and that violence should be removed from day time programming. there is also a noticeable movement to stop spanking children (i'm fine with that one i would spank mine but im not telling anyone else how to raise their kid- end of story and i would expect the same respect from that person) because its abuse and that it teaches children violence. The question i am asking is that children form the 1930's grew up on stuff like popeye the sailor man and bugs bunny that has plenty of violence twice as much violence than the stuff the children of today are raised on (they are expected to watch Barney and the Backyardigans). The children of the latter day were spanked ,watched violent television, and a lot of their mothers worked outside the home too (for middle class and poor children as well as minority children). How come they (who grew up on violent television and were spanked) turned out better with better grades and being more responsible than we are today even though their mothers and fathers did everything that psychiatrists said you should not do to a child and how come all off today's children are turning into delinquents even though today's children (if you go to walmart you will know what i am talking about) are turning out so wrong even though we are doing everything psychiatrist said we should do. What do you think we should do. Is this turning into a social problem and what can we learn for the parents of yesterday and to make todays children more responsible and more disciplined.
By the way the reason I am putting this is this particular section is because if i put it in the pregnancy and parenting section the mothers usually get defensive and I am told i am uneducated. Also you guys have more interesting debates than people on other sections. But really what do you think is the problem and what can we do about it? Best answer gets ten points.
Oh yeah and I didn't mean all children when i made the delinquent remark all i am saying is that a lot of today's children are turning out horribly wrong.
Oh yeah and I have appeared to make some gramatically errors as well as some errors in sentence strucure too because I was rushing. Sorry! Ignore those please.
Good answers Shaebug

i grew up watching popeye, bugs bunny, flintstones, jetsons, scooby, pink panther, woody woodpecker, tom & jerry, and many other timeless classics. they used to be on every saturday morning, now they are never played. they seem to have been replaced with all this computerized anime junk that aren't entertaining and just don't have the same feel to them as the oldies. i heard somewhere that they banned these cartoons because they weren't PC. if that's true then we have gone waaaay overboard. does anyone miss those great oldies or am i just an old geezer??
isn't it ashame that cartoonms made 50 to 70 years ago are more entertaining than cartoons made last week?

there's looney toones/bugs bunny/etc., pink panther, popeye, tom & jerry, (who did I forget?)-I wanna order some classics that are extremely funny.

The cartoons back then encourage kids to eat healthier such as Popeye (eating spinach) and Bugs Bunny (eating carrots), now they have kids watching Spongebob which all he do is fix Krabby Panties and that encourage the kids to eat fried foods. ( I have nothing against Spongebob, I love him im just making a statement)

a Bugs Bunny movie similar to Cat in the Hat & The Gringe, Popeye portrayed by Michael Myers and Jim Carey and Robin Williams respectively. Even a movie like the Flinstones falls into that category of cartoons being brought to life in the big screen.

Which current Hollywood actor would be perfect to the Bugs Bunny role? Keep in mind his voice and his look .
Robin Williams was brilliant as Popeye, John Goodman was good as Fred Flinstone, and both Carey and Myers were both good in their own Dr Seus movies.
question was inspired by this article.http://movies.yahoo.com/photos/collections/gallery/2714/split-screen-cartoon-to-liveaction-movies#photo0

I'm looking for the more popular ones-Bugs Bunny, Popeye, etc. Thanks!

I looked on a couple sites, they list them by title.
Popeye and Bluto are friends, on leave from the service. They go in a nightclub and Popeye is doing the Samba or some dance (why not?).
Anyway he goes to get Bluto to dance and Bluto says "now hold on there partner, I always took you to be a straight shooter."
Ahead of their time, don't you think? I'd like to get a copy, my sister doesn't believe he said that.

Also, don't you think Bugs Bunny dressed like a woman an awful lot?

Who was the best cartoon character of all time?

A. Vegeta
B. Jerry from Tom & Jerry
C. Bugs Bunny
D. Popeye the Sailorman
E. Spongebob
F. Superman
G. Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory
K... this seems very limited so I'mma put up some more characters

L. Scooby Doo
M. Astro Boy
N. Stewie from Family Guy

when my friends and i reminisce about the earliest cartoons we watched, their earliest recollections are felix the cat, popeye, bugs bunny, mickey mouse and all other popular (still to this day) characters. But none of them remember "wait til your father gets home". They are the same age as me, (34) but they dont remember it. Where can i get a video of some episodes? I can only find the theme song on mp3 and a few still shots but not any actual episodes.

you remember them, popeye, bugs bunny, pink panther, tom and jerry, top cat, heckle and jeckle, el kabong, underdog, go go golphers, and all the rest that i failed to mentioned. personality wize, which one are you and why?
