Since getting a tattoo is a sin, do you think it is okay for boys to watch the cartoon Popeye?
When I was little my dad showed me popeye cartoons and I really liked them a lot but then now my husband pointed out to me that he has a tattoo and that he doesn't want our little one watching it because it could influence him and make him want a tattoo. I had never thought of that before I mean but then again I was a girl so I didn't want to be like popeye but I think little boys would want to be so I understand where my husband is coming from.
Do you really think so little of your sons that they’ll be more influenced by cartoons than by you?

He’s right. First your child will want a tatoo and then he’ll want to sail the seas and possibly pick up crabs from some cheap hooker. Popeye has been the downfall of so many healthy homes. We should look at banning Popeye altogether. Or at least cover up his tatoo.

unless your kid is a weak-willed one, dont worry about it. you should be more concerned about popeyes steroid use (spinach my @$$). if you really have to, you can tell the kid its a sticker not a tatoo.

Well, kids aren’t as stupid as you think. They usually don’t pay attention to that. And if you’re kid is still too young to know better, there is still no way that get a tatoo or discover that his lifelong dream is to be just like Popeye the Sailor. Of corse he’s fine to watch it.

getting a tattoo is not a sin alot of people who do believe on god get tattoos of god and watching popeye can teach your child right and wrong

I loved Popeye as a kid and so did most every kid I knew and I never once heard any of them say they wanted a tattoo because Popeye has one, and neither did I and I still don’t have one to this day.
My friends and I wanted to do good like Popeye though, and I remember bugging my mom to buy us canned spinach, which was a supreme disappointment to me.
Lend your child a good example yourself and teach your child how you feel about tattoos, and that will have the biggest impact on him. Unless one of you two are sporting a tattoo, (he may want to be just like you).
And seriously, he is going to have more pressure to get a tattoo and think a tattoo is cool from his friends later than from Popeye now.
And depending on his age, he may not even realize that that is what that is on Popeyes arm anyway.
But of course, you guys are his parents, so what does it matter on here what we might say anyway?
