Mine most of you won't even know-Charles Laughton-stared in the unforgettable Hunchback of Notra Dame with Maureen O'Hara-was in Des Moines at a Legion Aux. convention and he and Agnas Moorehead and Cesaer Romero all signed my paper. Romer looked right thru me-Mr. Laughton had quite a conversation with me. Also the actress he married and can't think of her name but she was in the Bride of Frankenstein and also a lovely gracious person-Can't remember the name of the movie premier but we were all staying in the same downtown Desd Moines hotel, in Iowa.

As a patient at the Minneapolis Hospital for crippled children, about age 10, the artist who drew the newspaper Popeye series also gave his autograph as did the child singer star, Bobby Breen. Recently able to obtain 3 DVD's of his, some
70 years later. He was a cutie and had such a voice and was a pre-teen at that time. Wallace Beery came to Iowa to a premier and I called his room and he invited two of us up and got his autograph.
Oh yes, the woman Mr. Laughton married was Elsa Lancaster-also a charming lady who actually excused herself during our conversation in order to take a phone call.! Gracious person.
I was in teens and 20's when alll this happened and now I wouldn't walk across the street to get any autograph-no matrter how rich and famous-must have something to either becoming dis-inchanted or else I grew up!
