my 22 yr old friend has a strange husband.he is 25 yr old and their marriage happened i yr ago and she is now 4 months pregnant.he has a strange habit.he is totally addicted to cartoons.he has got good education, nice job and is a gentle man,but after returning from work he is fixed before the cartoon channel.she said cartoons like tom and Jerry,Popeye,Pokemon, batman etc are his top favorites.he is surely not childish as he is responsible and he has good knowledge about world affairs and all sort of things.is this cartoon addiction a mental illness?need help .kindly forgive capitalization
she married a boy not a man. I cannot stand boys who watch cartoons all day long that goes for video games too.
As long as he takes care of his family and he doesn’t neglect things, he doesn’t appear to have any mental issues.
My dad is 51 years old and still watches old school cartoons.
Sounds like my husband but at our house it’s:
ESPN
ESPN2
Outdoor Channel
Golf Channel
Sports Center (think that’s ESPN too…)
Fishing
Volleyball
Football
Baseball
Basketball
Curling
Hockey
Field Hockey
oh - at this rate I could post all day long…
To each his own when it comes to TV habits!
I like Spongebob. I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready eddy eddy!
I love spongebob squarepants, does that mean I have a mental illness?
I think it doesn’t matter as long as he has his stuff together. Since when is having a guilty pleasure a mental illness?
No its just his inner child coming out and maybe its his way of relaxing and relieving stress .. she should be happy he’s not out drinking, fooling around etc.. if thats the worse then the baby is going to have a very good play mate and father when it’s born.
maybe he is autistic, But other than that there is probably nothing wrong as long as he’s a part of the family too
No mental illness at all.
He just likes cartoons. And the problem would be??
Be thankful he is not into porn.
Tiffany, you sound like a boring woman. I pity the man that marries you.
Why does watching cartoons make him childish? A little weird, yes. But not childish. I watch cartoons everyday, with my kids. I don’t even mind. I’ll watch them and interact with my kids about them. Some of you women have f*cked up ways of judging men. I thank God everyday that I didn’t marry a dumb broad like you.
He isn’t hurting anyone. To each their own.
Boo to your first responder… i bet she would feel diff if she could got the stick out of her *** and sat down with her man to play the video games or watch the cartoons. As for your friends husband, everybody has a vice and that’s their right, and sounds like his vice isn’t harmful, which usually they are. Think about his future little boy or girl, they wont sit on a couch alone watching toons while mom cleans, they will be curled up on daddy’s lap.
The Simpsons are a cartoon..
What he chooses to watch on tv is none of your business. And cartoons are no better or worse than any of the other carp on tv.
Heck no. Foghorn Leghorn rules,, I say Rules!
IF he has a job, education and is in touch with world affairs then I would say NO
The crap that they put on prime time TV is for morons and really should insult any adult’s intelligence. Dumbs you down, if you will.
Most TV (not all) is just a distraction from what we really should be looking into and/or doing.
GOT DAMN, at least the MF is at home with his wife. It seems that no matter what a man does, we have to find a way to critique it. He likes cartoons, big deal, so do I, even like video games. Leave the man alone, no he doesn’ t have a mental illness but the fact that you actually give a fk might mean you do. Let their marriage alone, if that is her only issue with him, she needs to count her blessings.
I know "men" that still like to collect toys, who play video games, who paint fantasy minatures, who play wargames, who play paintball, who play Magic: The Gathering (or insert some other Geeky Collectable Card Game), who watch Star Trek etc.
Some guys simply don’t fall into the Sport Nut, Mr. Fix it or Gear Head in terms of hobbies / interests. It is what it is. A "man" is someone that provides & protects..the rest just makes him a geek, eccentric, a sports nut, a gear head etc.
LOL
Cartoons are usually funny, and they have a connection for some people to a stress-free time in their lives. He may also be trying to reconnect with his child side now that they’re looking to have a child of their own.
If she’s tired of the cartoons, all she has to do is say, "Hey, I’m not interested in watching this. Let’s watch something I’d like to see, too."
It’s not a mental illness it just happens to be how he relaxes and unwinds. She should be glad he doesn’t drink or do drugs instead.
