Disney and Child Movie Inappropriates?
There are so many Disney movies and other child movies that have inappropriate things in them for children to see even if they don't understand them quite yet. For instance...:Alice in Wonderland-the caterpillar smokes a bong/ 101 dalmations-Roger and cruella smoke cigarettes/ Little Mermaid-Ariel smokes a pipe/ Aladdin-Genie smokes a cigar/ The Rescuers-A mouse is constantly drinking whisky/ The Aristocats-The goose is drunk/ Mario Video Games- he eats mushrooms/An American Tale-A rat smokes cigars/ Pirates of the Carribean- Why is the rum gone?(explains it all)/Cars-Orgamic Fuel sold by the VW van/ Popeye-smokes a pipe/ Atlantis-dynamite/ Parent Trap-The mom gets drunk, the twins gamble and one skinny dips/ Toy story-Cid plays with explosives/ Spirit(stallion of the simaron)-men smoke and drink/ Over the Headge-animals steal/ Beaty and the Beast-Gaston Smokes,drinks and uses guns/ Bambi-hunter use guns/ Pocahontis-the mens use guns and kill kokoum/ Pinnochio-smoking and drinking
im only wondering what anyone would think of these things that show up in kids movies....
im also not saying we should shelter everyone's children but we should make these things in thses movies known as negative traits in the movies so the kids know these things are not good to do

They are going to be exposed to it eventually, so what’s the difference?

Actually I think they already have started editing that kind of stuff out. They smoked in looney toons. Just give your kids some new video’s instead of watching stuff from the 1980’s. You cant expect them to come to your house and edit the little mermaid vhs can you?

(eyeroll) okay, that’s what you’d call "multi-level" entertaining… something that the kids will enjoy, and the ADULTS will as well because of the "inside jokes" that just go right over the kids’ heads.
What are you getting your knickers in a knot for? It’s just a movie… believe me, your kids are taking their cues from the REAL people around them… so make sure YOU are setting a good example!
Okay, with the smoking… that happens every where you go, so they’re going to see it if in the movies or not
What you’re doing is over analyzing things, they don’t pay attention to what they’re doing in the movies they’re paying attention to the funnythings they do like triping over or saying funny things
If you want your kids to watch things that don’t have smoking, drinking, killing, or things with explosives, have them watch the backyardigans or the doodlebops… but they’re going to grow out of those eventually
Honestly, I really doubt that the kids are paying attention to what the mouse is drinking or what the caterpillar is smoking. . .
I just wanted to point out that when a lot of those early cartoons came out, smoking was not as negatively stigmatized as it is now. Alice in Wonderland, 101 Dalmatians, Popeye for sure, many of them. Sometimes it used symbolically, to indicate that someone is the villain (in which case, it is utilizing that stigma). And with Pirates, you have to realize that it is rated PG-13, it’s not really for kids anyway, no matter how many parents take their toddlers to ruin the movie-going experience for everyone.
You also have to realize that without bad, there is no good (in the world of film at least). You can’t have villains that do nothing villainous, otherwise why even bother telling the story (regarding your mention of Toy Story, Bambi and probably others, I got bored reading your list)
And just for the reference, the hookah that the caterpillar of Alice was smoking is equal to about 1/12 of a cigarette traditionally and nowadays are more often then not completely tabacco free, so that’s not really bad at all is it?
- On smoking: What are you going to do? Shield your child’s eyes every time you see someone smoking on the street ? Would you sheild his eyes when he walks past a cigaretted counter at the shop?
- On Alcohol: Shield his eyes everytime you drive past a bar/club/pubs ? Shield his eyes everytime someone at a social function drinks alcohol?
- "An American Tale-A rat smokes cigars" - WOW!!!! will he now think that a rat can actually smoke cigars? PLEASE, give children some credit for their intelligence! That scene in itself DOES NOT in anyway encourage him to smoke!!
- "Mario Video Games- he eats mushrooms", well? I eat mushroom too! SO do a lot of other people. BIG DEAL!
- "Pocahontis-the mens use guns and kill kokoum/ Pinnochio-smoking and drinking" ummmm… that’s reality!! That is what people used to do!!! What do you want to do? NOT put that into the story? Rewrite history books? I am sure children DO KNOW that it is NOT nice to be shot!!
People use guns! We even see it on the NEWS. People go hunting. Police have guns on them. Children DO know what guns are for.
You might as well go and repaint all the classics paintings and pull down photographic masterpieces in the galleries because the portrays nudity, violence and people smoking and drinking and gambling so your children don’t see such depravity.
I think you might as well NOT EVER let your children come outside the house and watch anything real. Don’t let them learn how to cook because they will use KNIVES (heaven forbids!)
GET A LIFE!!!! It is what WE as parents teach them and instill the right moral values into them so they will know what is right and wrong - THAT, is what is important.
ok Pirates of the Caribbean is rating PG13.. meaning maybe KIDS under 13 shouldnt see it..
their not trying to influence kids to do it.. and most of those movies (except for like.. pirates..) are all older.. they havent made any liek that in recent years.
stop analyzing, tell your kids (if they ask ) about the dangers of smoking, drinking and seeing movies ! I grew up with seeing the old bugs bunny cartoons (THE BEST ) didn’t give me the idea that if I went over a chift I would bounce back, its only a cartoon, paranoid much ??? annal about cartoons ?? don’t watch them,
