Yes I did, and I will say that I owe my NON iron defiency as a kid, to my hero, Popeye. I honestly believe it was his influence on me, to eat my spinach. I love it to this day. It brings a tear to my eye, just thinking about it. (Shiver me timbers. lol)
When I was a child and growing up in the 60’s we didn’t have a television until I was around 8 years of age. When we did get our first tv the very first show that came on was a Popeye cartoon! I don’t remember much about kids shows from the 60’s but I’ve always remembered that about the Popeye show! x
I watched Popeye daily growing up but he didn’t convince me to eat spinach. Yuk!!!!
**?the?4OG….All In the Family was a takeoff from Comedy Playhouse….’Til Death Us Do Part that aired in the UK in 1965. In the credits of the show, it mentions "’Til Death Us Do Part."
I did then and I do now!! I still like to watch the channel that shows all the old series on tv like Green Acres, and all that old stuff! It is funny to watch it now days! Cleaner too!
I’m strong to the finish
cuz I eat my spinach
I’m Popeye the Sailor Man!
That’s why SpongeBob Squarepants is a hit…they use a lot of the same background material!
I still eat cooked spinach to this very day. I owe it all to that little cartoon!
I suspect Archie Bunker & Edith were a take off of Popeye & Olive Oyl too & look at what a hit they became!
I must have been the only kid on the block who LOVED spinach. I found a soulmate in Popeye and I was pretty funny looking too just like him. Yes I loved it.
Oh yes, I thought he was such a hero.
I would get so mad at Brutus!
And I would always wonder why Olive Oil
was so darned u-g-l-y…….but never had
the heart to mention it to anybody, cause
that was bad manners.
Yes i did, when I was real young and when i was older I wanted to watch American Bandstand and my younger sister would have to watch Popeye, It would make me so angry
I’ll gladly pay youTuesday for a hamburger today, I loved that cartoon I would get so mad at my little sister when she would sing all those nasty Popeye songs
"I will gladly pay you on Tuesday for a hamburger today."
I loved ol’ Popeye.
I didn’t fall for the Spinach Council’s propaganda though.
I’d watch ‘em now if I got the chance.
hell yea! Popeye the sailors man TOOT TOOT! haha =)
I’ve always wished i could be just like him and eat that spinach and be like really muscular…it doesn’t work though =(!
Never. Just so violent.
I loved Popeye! I always enjoyed it when he beat up bad guys while the sound track played Columbia the Gem of the Ocean.
I yam what I yam
