bluto’s wager: if “some life” is better than no life, then isn’t a life of pain better than no life at all?
and if thats the case, then doesn't atheism make the most sense because the worst case possible is wasting your life when you have no "hereafter".
so isn't a "life of torment" better than no life at all?
thus bieng dead with nothing, never enjoying the here and now is worse than a life of torment.
therefore it is logical that you reject christianity because if you are wrong, you have wasted that which is most precious and IREEDEEMABLE.
RAmen.
no not really….pain stinks..
IT ISNT WRONG GUARANTEED….YOU WILL ALL KNEEL DOWN TO GOD SOMEDAY….WE KNOW IT
your theory rests on the idea that a life of sin is somehow better than a life of truth and honoring God.
EDIT -
my wager "a life according to truth is better than one according to a lie, especially as it pertains to the afterlife"
depends how bad the pain is.
No, I don’t follow the logic. If a life of pain was better for those who suffer it than no life at all, why do so many disabled and chronically ill people commit suicide?
There’s also a steady increase in people attending assisted suicide clinics like the one I’ve put a link to:
See how you feel if your existence becomes nothing but pain. Don’t presume to know better until you’ve tried it. Everyone has the right to die with dignity.
No, a life of pain, either physically, emotionally, or spiritually, is unnecesarry. We can treat physical pain with medications, emotional pain with compassion, and spiritual pain is relieved by faith. Doesn’t that make atheism equivalent to a child refusing to take his medicene? No a life of torment is not better than no life at all, because the torment is unnecessary. Treat the pain so you can enjoy the here and now.
Now let’s pretend I am wrong… I have led my life teaching my children to love and have compassion for others, including non-Christians. I have dedicated my career to helping others. I have experienced incredible joy and shared it with others. Then I die, and that’s over. I don’t see that as wasted time. However now let’s pretend you are wrong. You live your life doing what you want to do, on your own terms, enjoying each moment to its fullest (which is great), then you die. What happens next if I’m right? The judgment.
It seems to me that either way, I’m okay, but what about you?
