It isn't the Popeye theme song, but is often used along with cartoons about ships or sailors. I've had it in my head all day, but can't figure out what it is.
all the cartoons made before 2000 were superb and you dint have to wait for your favorite show
today you have to wait for your fav. show or CN to watch popeye, wallace n gromit, tom n jerry sawt cats and many more.

I heard a freaking AWESOME song but I cant for the life of me remember what it was called. The video had Betty boop in it, and maybe Popeye. One of the commenters said it was trip hop (french or European)
CN is just a crap now.
you have to wait whole day for some older cartoon show like tom and jerry, popeye, looney toons swat cats, thundercat or some other old cartoon show.
yeah, this is a crazy question..lol. Popeye sees this big green thing approaching..the Hulk...and Hulk has a mad on. Popeye goes ahead and eats two cans of spinach for this fight..lol. Who's gonna win?
Popeye the sailor man? This cartoon was popular in the 1940 .
For some golfers drinking is like giving spinach to Popeye. Not me. How about you and why?
I looked everywhere online for the top 100 cartoons ever (trying to find out where sponge bob was, if it even made the list), and most of the lists are different...!! I saw in the sponge bob documentary that it beat popeye on the list, but i can't find it anywhere!!
I'm not obsessed with the show, i just wanna know!
So please let me know if sponge bob is even ON the list, or if it comes before popeye, and is there a really official list, or what?
Flinstone’s:
“We’ll have a gay old time…” is part of the theme song. Plus, Fred calls Barney “Twinkletoes”.
Bugs Bunny:
Bugs dresses up like a woman and tried to seduce his hunting buddy, Elmer. Bugs kisses Elmer and they end up dancing together.
Scooby Dooby Doo:
“Doobie Do?” The Scooby Snack is a metaphor for pot. And what about VELMA? Think about it…
Charlie Brown:
Remember Velma (The reason guys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses) ? Well Charlie Brown has Peppermint Pattie with her lesbian girlfriend, Marcie, who is always calling her, “Sir.”
Pattie plays football with the boys and walks around in those “sensible shoes”.
The Pink Panther:
Need I say more about him?
Remember Tinky Winkie, the gay Teletubbie who carried a pocketbook, decried by the notorious Jerry Falwell? Though not technically a cartoon, it’s close!
BATMAN and Robin:
Running around the city at night in tights… The older one calls the younger one his “Boy Wonder.” Their names are Bruce and Robin…
POPEYE the Sailor Man:
Hasn’t been in the navy in over 20 years, and is still wearing his uniform. His girlfriend is one of those flat-chested transvestites.
SMURFS:
Only one girl and she was the consummate “fag-hag”
ERNIE and BERT:
Speaks for itself.
WINNIE the POOH:
A yellow bear who wears nothing but a red halter-top.
He needs spinach to beat up people. Wouldn't that be considered a "performance-enhancement drug" or "human growth hormone" like what some of the sports athlete have been using?
I'm sure most of you who take the time to fully read this question's content will be thankful for the nostalgia I provide you with.
Here's my question. When I get married and have kids, I plan on exposing them 90's culture. The culture I grew up with (I'm 20 years old right now). I mean this in all aspects. I'm going to have them watch the old TV shows/movies. I'm going to have them read the old books I use to read, I'm going to have them play the old video games I used to play, I'm going to even let have them listen to 90's music, play with my old toys, and even introduce them to snacks/foods from the 90's.. is this wrong?
I feel that the further in time we move, the more boring, unoriginal, bland, and inappropriate everything in our culture becomes. The 90's was an amazing time, and I really think my children would benefit in terms of becoming good people when they grow up if they were exposed to good 'old stuff from the 90's than the stuff kids see in today's world (that will probably end up getting worse)
Here's a list to jog your memory.
I'll have my kid watch shows like: wild thornberries, as told by ginger, rocket power, rugrats, doug, gargoyles, proud family, hey arnold, catdog, ren and stimpy, rocko's modern life, angry beavers, i am weasel, animaniacs, swat kats, dragon ball z, dexter's lab, ninja turtles, kenan and kel, all that, the amanda show, cousin skeeter, spongebob, poke'mon, barney and friends, sesame street, clarrissa, explains it all, pinky and the brain, arthur, franklin the turtle, ah! real monsters, my brother and me, action figure league now, rollie pollie ollie, maggie and the ferocious beast, the big comfy couch, puzzle place, beetle juice, gumby, looney toons, power puff girls, rocky and bullwinkle, the pink panther, jimmy neutron, the busy world of richard scarry, little bill, little bear, cow and chicken, johnny bravo, the flintstones, space ghost coast to coast, jetsons, secret squirrel, yogi bear, 2 stupid dogs, tom and jerry, popeye the sailor man, jonny quest, road runner, sylvester and tweety, digimon, boy meets world, thomas the train, recess, lizzie mcguire, so weird, the jersey, the famous jet jackson, smart guy, guts, legends of the hidden temple, even stevens, disney zoog, duck tales, land before time, mr rogers neighborhood, telletubbies, banan pajama, clifford the big red dog, corduroy, dragon tales, gullah gullah island, angela anaconda, power rangers, old super hero shows like superman, batman, spider man, hulk, xmen, fresh prince of belll air, family matters, full house, beetle borgs, boy meets world, the muppets, brady bunch, road runner and coyote, franklin, the magic school bus, casper, wwf wrestling, the addams family, woody the wood pecker and winnie the pooh
on top of that, I'll expose my kids to classic movies from the 90's. I collected them all from my childhood (they'll probably even watch them on VHS)-- much better than all the kids movies that are coming out today..
movies include:
beeethoven, star wars movies, pinnochio, oliver and company , chicken run, wishbone, all dogs go to heaven, antz, small soldiers, wishbone, toy story 1, lion kind 1, aladdin, jumanji, babe, honey i shrunk the kids, beauty and the beast, fantasia, 101 dalmations, a bug's life, poccahontas, airbud, homeward bound, home alone, the mighty ducks, flubber, titanic, alice in wonderland, the fox and the hound, hunchback of ND, space jam, jurassic park, hercules, peter pan, snow wight, indian in the cupboard, free willy, men in black etc
Books that my kids will read would include my old childhood books that my parents read to me as kids like:
animorphs, captain underpants, redwall, berenstain bears, goosebumps, maltida and ronald dahl books along with all of the classic books like 3 little pigs, riding hood etc.
My kids will not be getting xbox 360s/PS3s only because games today lack originality. Don't you guys remember when we use to have AMAZING games? Like Zelda Ocarina of time? I feel EVERY kid (boy or girl) must play that game. Other games would include: Zelda Ocarina of time, tekken 3, mario 64, donkey kong 64, grand turismo, snowboard kids, batman beyond, the sims, super smash brothers 1, jet force gemini, banjo kazooie, gex, blitz, tony hawks pro skater 2, final fantasy 7, jet moto, crash bandicoot, pokemon blue/red version. These games are much better than the stuff nowadays, wouldn't you agree?
Snacks they'd get to experience would include:
hi-c, dinosaur fruit snacks, ring candy, blow pops, warheads, honeycombs, hawaiian punch etc..
Last but not least toys - most of my toys as a kid are gone but, I have some from my childhood that my kids will play with like:
hotwheels, mouse trap, jenga, operation, guess who, power ranger toys, wooden trains, legos, beast wars transformers, furby, beanie babies, skip it, super soakers, nerf g
here goes the story of the contest..HOST: Who was the character who sailed the Seven Seas ?
ATHEIST: {thinking deeply} Submariner ! Namor the Submariner !!!
HOST: No...I said sailor...a famous sailor
ATHEIST: (make a deep breath) i know the sailor...its Popeye, the sailor man !!!
HOST: (scratching his head) not again...sailor with a letter S as a name
ATHEIST: Yes, thats it (clenching his fist) it's Sailor Moon !!!
now, did he won ?? lol
For Popeye it was from eating spinach. What about you?
If you've seen any Robert Altman movies (Gosford Park, 3 Women, even that horrific Popeye film), you'll know that he has people frequently speaking at the same time, as if the other person isn't speaking at all.
Now I know these are just movies, but I've found that there are some people who just normally talk like this. It's as if they're not paying attention to each other at all. But you never hear them saying "did you hear what I said" or any kind of indication that anyone missed anything. Are people able to actually communicate in this way? Do they grasp 2 seconds out of every 2 minutes of conversation and assume what the rest of the speech was? Or are they actually able to speak whole sentences and hear other whole sentences and concentrate on both at once?
Have you ever had a conversation like that? How did you know that you weren't both just ignoring each other?
