Was Sweet Pea fathered by Popeye or Bluto, or Brutus, or heaven forbidz, some unamed character? And isn't Bluto and Brutus the same guy? Was spinach the steroids of that era? Or was it more like viagra? I wonderz.

The cartoon itself is titled simply 'Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy' and is a 17 minute short cartoon by Dave Fleischer. I keep getting lead to a Popeye anthology and its possible it was put on there but I don't want to shell out more than 50 dollars for a dvd set I won't even watch. =( And if it helps any, it was made in 1941. I don't ask for a free view online. I would certainly pay. Anything would be helpful.

I recall seeing Popeye sniff garlic when he didn't have spinach to eat. Does anyone recall seeing this in the old popeye cartoons?

My son is 11 months old and halloween is my FAVORITE holiday, so of course I am trying to find a really awesome, unique, great quality, halloween costume for his first halloween. I dont want anything like the typical cartoon character, or like spiderman... I want something that the oridany family cant just go pick up at the local mall. Price does not matter. Any ideas on where to go, or cool internet sites to buy from?? Id even make it myself, but would need neat ideas and or directions on how to do it. Thanks a bunch!

well my is having her 16th in a few weeks and she has chosen the theme as movie characters. my mate has already shotgunned rambo (my first idea grr!) and i had also though of popeye (as i do sail lol) but any other jokey/ funny ideas as people to go as? thanks everyone

Mine are: Rugrats, Doug, Rocko's modern life, Hey Arnold, Catdog, Ren and Stimpy, Ahh real monster and Spongebob square pants. Yest I am a child of the 90's lol. I also like old school cartoons like bugs bunny, popeye and all the looney toons.

Me and 5 friends are all pitching in 20 dollars or less. My friend just got a new room so something that goes with this comforter would be good. I already looked at the stuff on the site that goes with it, but they are too expensive. She also like music and movies a lot, and goes on the computer all the time. Because she is only getting one gift, we want it to be good. What should I get her? I was thinking maybe a comfy chair that matches the bed, so if you can find one post the link.

We know that the word Jeep, referring to the vehicle, is not acceptable. However, he is using it in the sense of Eugene the Jeep from the comic strip Popeye. I think that this is a proper name and should not be used. If there was a definition of Jeep, in terms of the creature, then I would accept it. Please cast your vote for who is right. I heard bits and pieces about the famous "Popeye" cartoon being based on a time when America was fighting with another country over olive oil, and the only we could defend ourselves is if we stacked up our money and bought whatever we needed to defend ourselves. In the cartoon, Popeye (America) was at a constant tug of war with Bluto (the other country) in order to win over the heart of Olive Oyl. He defended himself by eating a can of spinach and gaining strength (power).

I have absolutely no idea if this story is true. But i've heard it more than once. I forgot the name of the "other country" by the way. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

What I am saying is why spinach? why not carrot, or tomato?
Also, why he is a sailor? Is Bluto also a sailor? There is a girl in the cartoon as well. I forgot her name, Is she also a sailor?The story about them seldom occurs in a ship, am I right? Why not cowboy? I simply can't understand.
